ABOUT HABLE

Sisters Susan and Katharine Hable founded Hable Construction in 1999. Named after their Texan great-grandfather’s 20th-century road construction business, this design company merged their expertise and talent to create distinctive and functional products for everyday living. Hable found its roots in American manufacturing, old Postal bags, a shared appreciation for the arts and quality products, and a family legacy of independent and hardworking women.

Susan is the creator and artist living in Athens, GA, and Katharine handles sales and operations from Corsicana, TX. Together they combine practicality, sophistication, and timelessness into their work. Hable creates bold and graphic designs dubbed with colorful, hand-drawn patterns that have become the hallmark of their aesthetic. Skilled artists create all Hable products; In an old New England factory, they employ traditional screen-printing processes, and most of Hable’s furniture is fabricated in North Carolina with a 100-year-old family-owned business that shares their commitment to honoring family history and artistic intricacy. Their online shop offers beautiful home accents, creative projects, and collaborations. Hable works with many wonderful partners and most recently launched a lighting collection with Visual Comfort Studio and an impressive digital art collection with Soicher Marin. In Fall 2023, Hable will be the first designer to partner with Hickory Chair to create an outdoor collection! In the upcoming year, Susan and Katharine plan to open Höebel, a gallery in downtown Corsicana, named after their original surname spelling.

More than two decades after their inception, Hable Construction continues to grow. Today the company produces fabric and furniture lines, fine art, has representation in interior design showrooms worldwide, enjoys international product distribution, and operates an online shop.
